2019 De Bortoli Melba Amphora Cabernet Sauvignon
Fermented in 1000 litre amphora’s on skins for 150 days and then matured in older French oak for a further 150 days. Opaque dark red black colour with a dark red hue. Freshly crushed red currant scents mix with subtle mulberry, tobacco, earth and dried herb notes. Very elegant, red currant and mulberry fruits carry an underlying freshness with some dusty earth, tobacco and spicy fresh herb infusions also present. Dryish finish with bright acidity and slightly chalky tannins leading into a light, savoury mid length aftertaste.
Cellar 5-6 years.
Hand-picked and sorted fruit, destemmed and popped into a 1000L clay vessel. A whopping 150 days on skins followed by another 150 days in used French oak puncheons. This is a beauty. It's savoury, pretty and lighter framed, with wonderful, powdery tannins. Pure, refined and elegant. Bravo. Drink by 2034.
