Certified organic this wine is produced from a blend of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot and 1% Cabernet Franc with maturation taking place in French oak (23% new) for an average of 5 months. Black as night core with a dark red black tinged hue. Ripe mulberry and red currant aromas intermix with dried herbs, tobacco, dusty cedar and spicy black olive notes. Rich red to black currant and mulberry fruits cast an elegant shadow across a back drop of cedary tobacco characters, earthy black olive and spicy bay leaf. Finishes a touch dusty with a youthful freshness framed by fine grained tannins. Refined medium to long conclusion.
Cellar 5-6 years.
Alc. 13%

Other Reviews….
Of the Australian wines I buy fairly regularly, the list goes something like – Cullen, Tyrrell’s, Mount Pleasant, Wendouree, Hoddles Creek, Marius, Mount Mary, and there are others, of course, though these are my mainstays. This is Cabernet Sauvignon 62%, Merlot 37% and 1% Cabernet Franc.

So dense and brooding, concentrated, and yet has a lightness and vigour that makes it so appealing. Black fruit, ripe raspberry, cedar and biscuit spice, dark chocolate and violets, bay leaf, with a sort of wet clay/mineral character in the mix. Tannin is firm and silty/slatey, fresh feel despite all that dark chocolate flavour, and the finish is long, with a black tea perfume trailing. Wonderful. Drink 2022 - 2030+.
