Sangiovese was pioneered in Australia by Coriole with the first plantings in 1985. It provided a contrasting style to shiraz - the great tradition of McLaren Vale - and has proven to be ideally suited to the warm maritime climate of the region. The fruit for this wine is sourced from some of the oldest Sangiovese vines in Australia.
Opaque dark red black tinged colour with a dark red hue. Spicy red currant aromas intermix with red cherries, light tobacco, dried herbs and earth. Showing admirable intensity the palate is bursting with delicious red currant and red cherry fruits that have a juicy like feel backed by earthy tobacco and dried herb elements. Finishes quite spicy with slightly dryish tannins and bright acidity which meld into a long spicy red fruited aftertaste.
Drink over the next 3-4 years.
Alc. 14.1%
