Clarence House Estate’s small vineyard is located just north of Hobart on a perfectly positioned north-east facing slope. The talented Anna Pooley from Pooley wines the contracted winemaker. A barrel selection from blocks 1, 2 and 5 the 2019 Estate Pinot Noir includes fruit that would normally go into the Reserve wine. Wild fermented with a small portion of whole bunch (10-15%), the wine was aged in a combination of new (15%) and old French oak barriques and puncheons for a period of 10 months.

A delicious mix of red and dark fruits that are both supple and powerful.

Deep dark red in colour with black tinged edges and a bright purple red hue. Very perfumed the nose offers up an alluring bouquet of violets, dark cherries, strawberries and anise which are trailed by fresh herb and spicy cedar notes. Showing terrific intensity spicy red to dark cherry and strawberry fruits infused with violets fan out across the palate like a peacocks tail. Supple in its texture, elements of anise, delicate forest floor, lightly toasted oak and fresh herbs flow onto the back half. Excellent power wave finishing with plenty of freshness, velvety tannins and a long seductive aftertaste.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
