2019 Chateau Beausejour Fronsac
The same family has owned Château Bel-Air in Pomerol since 1914 and Château Beausejour in Fronsac for five generations. A 85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc blend, Chateau Beausejour typically sees 12-18 months in French oak barrels.
An excellent entry level Bordeaux from the superb 2019 vintage.
Dense pitch black heart with a bright dark red black tinged hue. Ripe blackcurrant aromas flood the olfactory senses with some liquorice, mulberry, cedary tobacco and spicy dried herb notes ensuing. Displaying a combination of richness, charm and refinement the medium bodied palate is decorated with blackcurrant and ripe mulberry fruits which overlay dusty cedar, tobacco, scorched earth and spicy black olive characters. Fine grained yet sturdily built tannins along with a nicely balanced freshness provide the structural frame. The finish showcases the vintages hallmark elegance with a lengthy earth tinged aftertaste.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
