Still family owned and operated, this small Coonawarra vineyard has been evolving over the past 40+ years and now involves their daughter, Emma who has taken on the winemaking role whilst Doug is looking after the viticultural side of things. The Estate consists of 33 hectares of vines planted on the prized Coonawarra Terra Rosa soils. Established in 1972, the first vintage in 1975 was greeted with considerable enthusiasm.
Impenetrable inky black heart with a very deep dark red black hue. Drifting from the glass are delightful aromatics of ripe blackcurrant, liquorice and subtle bay leaf which are trailed by spicy vanillin cedar, light earth and subtle black olive notes. A rich expression of Coonawarra Cabernet, the palate sees ripe blackcurrant and liquorice fruits overlay a toasty vanillin cedar, dried herb and spicy black olive back drop. Sturdy, finely built tannins provide the framework. Excellent power with a long, relatively refined finish. Requires some patience to allow the oak to fully integrate.
Cellar 6-8 years.
Alc. 14.7%
