There is a vague whiff of menthol to the equally pretty aromas of various red berries, orange peel, spiced tea and rose petal. The lacy, delicious and appealingly textured medium-bodied flavors possess a building intensity that culminates in a dusty and youthfully austere finish. This solidly persistent effort needs more depth, but the underlying material appears to be present such that more should develop in time. Drink 2027+.

Another success is the 2019 Volnay 1er Cru Les Mitans, an aromatic, perfumed wine that bursts with notions of peonies, plums and orange rind. Medium-bodied, lively and charming, with melting tannins and a supple, demonstrative profile, it will drink well young. Drink 2021 - 2035.

The 2019 Volnay Les Mitans 1er Cru has an elegant bouquet of red cherries, crushed strawberry and light crushed rock aromas that become more floral with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with fine definition, the tiny proportion of whole bunch imparting a soupçon of pepperiness toward the finish. Very fine. Drink 2023 - 2038.

Medium deep purple, lighter rim, with an immediate lift to the bouquet, a few whole bunches, but not many. Pretty ripe on the palate, a touch of heat and not so much middleground, finishes quite well.
