Atze's Corner is owned by sixth generation Barossa Valley vigneron, Andrew Kalleske. At the heart of the project are low-yielding 1912 and 1951 Barossa Valley Shiraz vines planted adjacent to the locally-known Atze's Corner, in an unassuming plot of land to the east of Nuriootpa on the valley floor. Fruit is also sourced from several other vineyards, also owned by the Kalleske family. Two of the Barossa Valley's prized sub regions make up 100% of the Shiraz in this wine - Ebenezer and Koonunga. Open, small-batch fermentation, hand plunging and pumping and minimal filtering and fining define Andrew's unobtrusive approach. Maturation takes place in a combination of new French oak (30%) with the balance in seasoned French and American oak for a period of 18 months.

Explosively rich, opulent and brimming with lush Barossa fruit.

Impenetrable inky black heart with a deep bright dark purple black hue. Intense ripe dark plum, liquorice and blackberry aromas leap out of the glass trailed by vanillin oak, hints of dark chocolate and spice. Explosively rich and sumptuous, the opulently textured palate is painted with a thick coating of dark plum, liquorice and blackberry fruits yet it still retains an underlying sense of freshness. Chiming in on the back half are elements of vanillin cedar, light earthy mocha and spice. Superb depth and power with velvet smooth tannins and a long lush aftertaste.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
