2019 Antonio Madeira Branco
A blend of twenty native grape varieties from vines 25-70 years old fermented and matured for 11 months in 70% used barrels with the balance in stainless steel tanks. Bright straw colour with a watery hue. Aromas of pear and lime intermingle with hints of dried apple, light honeysuckle and quincy mineral like notes. Fresh yet nicely rounded mid palate featuring spiced pear and baked apple flavours over lime, traces of honeysuckle and quince. Finishes dry with brisk acidity and a stony mineral laced aftertaste.
Drink over the next 3-4 years.

Saline, pear and green melon, or something, but not overly fruity as such, plus a little white pepper/green chilli. Fleshy but fine, with a chalky feel, a little creaminess in with pear and apple, good balance and a stony and brine-laced finish. Very interesting. Different. Drink 2021-2025.
