One of Coonawarra’s long standing Estate’s, the Zema family having been crafting wines from their vineyards for nearly 40 years. The family arrived from Italy in 1953 bringing with them a wealth of traditional vineyard practices and experience. In 1982 they purchased their first 20 acre property, located in the heart of the famed terra rossa strip adjacent to Coonawarra landmarks Mildara, Rouge Homme and Wynns. Eight acres were already planted to Shiraz, the remaining 12 acres were subsequently planted to Cabernet Sauvignon.

Matured for 15 months in French and American oak hogshead barrels. Dense inky black heart with a deep dark red black tinged hue. Springing from the glass are lusty aromas of blackberry, liquorice and dark chocolate followed by spicy vanillin cedar, earthy mocha like notes and hints of mint. Full in body the palate is awash with lavish blackberry, liquorice and dark plum fruits which overlay vanillin oak, mocha and spicy pepper elements. Velvety tannins carry a sturdy underbelly. Finishes with good freshness, the aftertaste opulently fruited and lengthy.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
