2018 Warrabilla Reserve Durif
Matured for 10 months in 75% New APJ French Oak and 25% new American APJ puncheons, Andrew and daughter Amy have tweaked the barrel regime of their 2018 Reserve Durif employing a lighter, more gentle toast on the American oak component.
Displays Durifs trademark unbreachable depth of colour with a dense inky black core and an equally deep dark purple black hue. Rising from the glass are potent aromatics of Morello and black cherries, black plum and liquorice followed by vanillin cedar, hints of graphite and pepper. Ultra-rich and massive in its size, opulent black and Morello cherry flavours overwhelm the palate with liquorice, vanillin cedar, subtle black olive and spicy pepper elements ensuing. Bright youthful acidity and robust tannins underpin the fruit to provide a great framework. Concludes long, rich and vibrant.
