2018 Tyrrell's Stevens Single Vineyard Shiraz
Matured in older 2500 litre French oak casks for 15 months. Deep dark purple black colour with a bright dark purple hue. A fragrant mix of red cherry, red plum and red liquorice blossoms out of the glass trailed by a whiff of earthy graphite, a subtle meatiness and pepper. Only just mid weighted but generously fruited the palate is decorated with delicious red plum, cherry and red liquorice fruits that possess an underlying spiciness. Subtle earth and peppered meat characters are also evident. Polished yet nicely structured it finishes with good freshness and a long refined aftertaste.
Drink over the next 8 years.
Alc 13.5%
Other Reviews….
It’s still from Stevens, obviously, but not from the old hillside parts.
Juicy red fruit, sour cherry, fair bit of spice, a little vanilla and earth. Bright, fresh, juicy, brisk acidity, slight stickiness to the tannin, a lively finish, good crisp finish with a red earth and dried herb accent. Not the depth of some of the other releases, but shows the charm of the vintage to great effect. Drink by 2028+

Gary Walsh - The Wine Front (May 2019)
A parcel from the Glen Oak Vineyard, this has a very pure and pristine red-plum, cherry and cassis nose with a super fine, elegant and fresh feel on the palate. Superb depth and drive. Astonishing value. Drink or hold. Screw cap.
