2018 Tyrrell's Old Hut Vineyard Hunter Valley Shiraz
Matured in older 500 litre French oak puncheons for 15 months. Opaque black dark purple heart with a bright purple hue. The fragrantly scented nose features freshly crushed blackberry, liquorice, plum and blueberry aromatics over spicy vanillin cedar, scorched earth and peppered meat notes. The elegant mid weighted palate sporting a savoury profile of plum, liquorice and blueberry fruits over a back drop of lightly toasted cedar, earth and peppered meats. Fresh and refined in its feel with finely knit tannins and a medium to long aftertaste.
Cellar 6-8 years.
Isn’t the Old Hut at Tyrrell’s a wonderful iconic sight?
Loam, spice, purple fruit. Medium-bodied, bright, light sandiness to the tannin, good energy, red fruits, pleasant earthiness and a good clean finish. It feels acid driven, over tannin, though tannin is there. The raspberry juiciness is really very appealing. Drink 2020-2028+
