$575.88 Dozen
Cellar: Drink now - 5 Years (2021-2026)
ABV: 13%
Closure: Stelvin
Matured for 9 months in French oak. Brilliant water like colour with greenish tints to the outskirts. Aromas of nectarine and subtle peach have a gun flint overlay with hints of lemon butter and spice also present. Nectarine, pear and delicate bees wax characters are subtlety creamed in their feel with notions of citrus and shades of gun flint on the back half. Finishes dry with brisk fresh acidity and a refined medium length aftertaste.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.
Alc. 13%

A single vineyard wine from the Elliott family’s vineyard in Belford, which is leased by Tyrrell’s and is located about 10km northwest of the winery. Being the vineyard that is furthest away from the Brokenback range it has the most broken down soil, which is so fine it is almost like talcum powder. The fruit was basket pressed to French oak barriques, where it matured for a futher 8 months before bottling.

Other Reviews….
Vines planted in 1991.

Chardonnay with a bit of drive to it, a bit of tension. The word wiry came to mind. Stonefruit, lemon curd, a gentle creamy/cedary character and a kind of fragrant herb note to the aftertaste. Good now but it will improve over the next year or three. Drink by 2024+
