2018 Tolpuddle Vineyard Chardonnay
Described by James Halliday as ‘one of Australia's most exciting vineyards’ the wines from Tolpuddle continue to excel. Brilliant very pale straw core surrounded by a greenish tinged outskirts and a watery hue. Nectarine and citrus aromas tinged with hints of grapefruit show excellent intensity followed by infusions of gun flint, light biscuity oak and stony mineral notes. Rich and mouthfilling yet showing plenty of finesse, concentrated white peach, nectarine and citrus fruits have a fleshy feel to them sitting over a backdrop of biscuity oak, wet stone, faint almond nougat and gun flint. Finishes dry with perfectly balanced fresh acidity. Superb depth with a long commanding yet refined aftertaste. An exceptional Tassie Chardonnay.
Cellar 5-6 years.
Alc. 13%
Other Reviews….
An exceptional chardonnay with a wealth of very fresh and slightly flinty lemon, grapefruit, white-peach and grilled-hazelnut aromas. The palate has such grace and well-defined, pure lemon and grapefruit, as well as white and yellow peaches. The toasted-hazelnut afterglow is stunning. Hints of praline, too. So elegant, pristine and pure. Exceptional. Drink or hold. Screw cap.

Hand-picked, whole-bunch pressed, fermented in French oak barrels with limited stirring. The bouquet and palate send the same message of perfectly captured white stone fruits, then apple and grapefruit. An irresistible wine with spectacular length. Drink by 2033.
