2018 Spence Chardonnay
Brilliant pale straw to straw colour with highlights of green around the edges and a watery hue. Nectarine, pear and dried honey aromas emerge with light biscuity oak and gun flint notes also chiming in. Rich nectarine, citrus and dried honey flavours meet up with traces of bacon fat and infusions of gun flint. Mid weighted it finishes with good freshness and a refined aftertaste.
Drink over the next 3-4 years.
Hand-picked, whole-bunch pressed, wild-fermented and matured in French oak (25% new) for 10 months. Has that extra layer of Geelong generosity akin to Beechworth. Citrussy acidity ties everything up neatly on the finish and aftertaste. Drink by 2028.
