2018 Shaw & Smith Shiraz

Pitch black heart with a deep dark red black tinged hue. Fragrant plum and red liquorice aromas have a distinct dried clove overlay with notions of dried meats, scorched earth and spicy pepper also chiming in. Rich, silky dark plum, red liquorice and blackberry fruits show excellent concentration. Elements of dried clove, smoked meats, earth, spicy herbs and pepper move in on the back half. Polished tannins with a long refined aftertaste that has plenty of complexity to it.
Drink over the next 6-8 years.

It’s become an anticipated wine.
Fantastic release. Stunning length, a wide array of flavours, top tier tannin and the (velvety) texture to match. Cloves, nuts, cherry-plum. graphite, woodsmoke. Cool climate profile with a warmth in its heart. I drank a couple of glasses but I was convinced from the first sip. My only real question was whether it was 95 or 96. Drink 2020-2032+
