Other Reviews....
The 2018 Chianti Classico Riserva is a wonderfully polished and expressive wine. Dark cherry, spice, tobacco, cedar, dark cherry, leather and tobacco. Darker, virile and intense the Riserva retains the classic Querciabella mid-weight style. I imagine the 2018 will give readers two decades of very fine drinking. Drink 2023-2038.

Antonio Galloni's Vinous (September 2021)

Complex aromas of dark cherries, vanilla, flowers and lavender. It’s full-bodied with polished and very fine tannins. Very racy and intense with gorgeous length and intensity. This is really structured. From organically grown grapes. Vegan. It needs a year or two to soften, but very serious. Try after 2023.

As with Querciabella’s annata, the Riserva blends fruit from Greve, Radda and Gaiole; a selection of the best parcels with yields averaging a modest 30hL/ha. Barrique and tonneaux ageing (20% new) brings a roasted coffee, cocoa element upfront but gives plenty of room for the bright red cherry, blackberry and grilled herb flavours to express themselves. Intense and concentrated yet not lacking in acidity, there is an intrinsic succulence here. Layers of tight-knit, powdery tannins will carry the wine gracefully. Drink 2024 - 2036.

Lustrous crimson. Pure raspberry with the polish of oak, but barely noticeable. Beautiful precision on the palate with raspberry, jewel-like acidity and fine polished tannins. Gorgeous length and style. Drink 2022–2034
