Matured in new French oak barriques for 24 months. Impenetrable midnight black core with a very deep dark red black hue. Sailing out of the glass are intense blackberry and liquorice scents which mix with dark chocolate, vanillin oak, earth, mocha and light spice along the way. Full, rich and possessing a refined opulence, ripe blackberry and liquorice fruits run into some prominent toasty vanillin oak with elements of dark chocolate and spicy earth also evident. Excellent concentration with solidly built tannins providing a sturdy framework. High quality oak lingering onto the long aftertaste.
Cellar 6-8 years.
Alc. 14.5%

Other Reviews….
Matured in new oak for two years. From the Chatterton family vineyard, older vines, good site.

Big perfume of cedary wood, new leather, booze-soaked berries, bacon bone, very complex and rich aromas. Incredibly smooth, incredibly rich, so many layers to flavour in spice, fruit, wood, all quite nuanced, very serious, very seamless and exceptionally long. It’s an obvious wine, bold, forthright, but there’s so much to sink one’s teeth into here. Impressive.
