Fruit for this wine is sourced from mature vines, with an average age of 20 years old, located in the Barossa Valley sub districts of Marananga, Seppeltsfield and Lyndoch Valley. Ageing takes place in large format 4500 litre French oak foudres for a period of 15 months.

Powerful and lavishly rich, this is another superb undertaking from the Powell & Son team.

Black as night in colour with a deep dark red black hue. Pronounced aniseed, blackberry, black cherry aromas mix with smoky vanillin cedar, subtle dried meat, fennel and black pepper scents. A rich wave of opulent, densely textured liquorice, black cherry and liquorice fruit cascades across the palate underscored by smoky vanillin oak, fennel, traces of tarred earth and pepper. Tremendous power and concentration with ripe, slightly chewy tannins supporting the lavish black fruits that lead into a long sumptuous aftertaste.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
