2018 Powell & Son Barossa Valley Grenache Shiraz Mataro

A blend of 60% Grenache, 20% Shiraz and 20% Mataro matured for 15 months in 2500 litre French oak foudres. Midnight black in colour with a deep dark red black hue. Sailing from the glass are scents of black raspberry, black cherry and liquorice followed by vanillin cedar, earth and peppered herbs. Rich black raspberry and black cherry fruits are underpinned by a surprising freshness with notions of liquorice, scorched earth, fresh herb infusions and pepper unwinding on the back half. Polished yet muscular tannin structure with a long bright dark to black fruited aftertaste.
Drink over the next 2-6 years.
