2018 Patrick of Coonawarra Block 5 Aged Riesling
Vibrant lime and lemon fruits meld into a tertiary driven back drop that has an oily like texture.
Bright straw colour with straw green tinged edges and a watery hue. Elevated lemon and lime aromas carry an oily toast like overlay with subtle bees wax and spicy kerosene notes also evident. Vibrant lime and lemon fruits carry good textural volume with notions of toast, subtle bees wax and kerosene lingering across the back half. Crisp acidity with the long toast and kerosene laden finish carrying an oily feel.
Drink over the next 3-4 years.
Alc. 11%
Other Reviews.....
This vintage displays the lemon myrtle, nectarine skin and frangipani of an even growing season. Some zested limes and preserved lemon, too. The freshness after seven years of bottle age is excellent, and the palate shows some candle wax, bee pollen, grainy texture and an elegant flow of acidity. Returning to the gold medal wine this has been previously, '18 was a triumph for riesling at Patrick of Coonawarra. Drink by 2031.
