2018 Nicks Secret CB Barossa Valley Shiraz
Created as a side hustle by two winemakers from Treasury Wine Estates and Torbreck, this small Barossa Valley winery has occasionally appeared in our newsletters over the years.
At a third of it’s original price and with all of the cellaring done for you, this Nicks Secret Shiraz represents sensational drinking at just $14.99.
A super seductive Barossa Shiraz from the outstanding 2018 vintage at a ridiculous price.
Impenetrable inky black heart with a deep dark red black hue. Filling the nostrils are elevated scents of liquorice, dark chocolate and dark plum with trailing notes of vanillin cedar, fennel and subtle peppered earth. Rich, plush and velvety, the palate is drenched in a concentrate of liquorice, dark plum and dark chocolate flavours. Unravelling across the back half are spicy vanillin oak, scorched earth and peppered fennel elements. Powerful and deep it has silky smooth tannins and a long seductive finish.
Drink over the next 2-3 years.
Alc. 14.5%
Other Reviews….
This is amazing value. A delicious Barossa Shiraz with some significant cellar time and hailing from one of the great vintages, for under fifty bucks? Jump on this – you will not regret it. The wine has an inky, dark magenta/purple colour. The time in the cellar has undoubtedly helped. This is richly flavoured, dense and dancing, with notes of chocolate, mocha, coffee beans and licorice. This is very generous, beautifully balanced, seamless and with very good length, and it is also exhibiting early complexity. The tannins and soft and powdery. Love it. Another ten years of pleasure at least, ahead of it. Drink 2025-2035.

Wonderfully rich and complex, the wine shows blackberry, vanillin oak, smoked game and toasted spice aromas on the nose, leading to a wonderfully weighted palate offering plump mouthfeel combined with fleshy texture and layers of fine tannins, finishing splendidly long and harmonious. At its best: now to 2033.
