Established in 1972 by the late David Wynn, Mountadam is one of Australia’s oldest cool climate Chardonnay vineyards. Situated on a unique rocky outcrop at 570 metres above sea level, Mountadam is still to this day one of Australia's most elevated vineyards. Since 2005, the vineyard has been owned by South Australian businessman David Brown, who has made significant investment in vineyard improvement and expansion.
Sourced from vines aged between 25-45 years old the juice was fermented in 50% new French oak barriques and 50% 1 and 2 year old barriques. Maturation took place in the same oak regime for a period of 12 months with intermittent lees stirring taking place during this time.

Rich, decadently creamy and powerful this is an outstanding Chardonnay with magnificent palate presence.

Brilliant pale straw colour with greenish tinged edges and a watery hue. Intense white peach, ripe nectarine and dried honey aromas are interwoven with citrusy nougat, faint cashew and spice notes. Rich, full and powerful, white fleshy peach, ripe nectarine and dried honey flavours flood the mouth giving it a viscous feel. Underscoring the moreish fruit are elements of citrusy nougat, light cashew and traces of crème brulee. Concentrated and creamy, despite its decadence it finishes with ample freshness and a long driving aftertaste. Sophisticated and stylish this a superb Chardonnay from this under the radar producer.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.
