Moorooduc Estate, planted in 1982, was one of the first to be established on the Mornington Peninsula by Richard and Jill McIntyre. With yields of less than 2 tons per acre and the fruit 100% destemmed the resultant wine was matured in French oak with 25% being new for a period of 17 months.
Red to dark red in colour with black tinged edges and a light red hue. Expressive dark cherry, anise and wild strawberry scents show ample intensity with dried herb, forest floor and spicy cedar notes ensuing. Very supple and richly flavoured, delectable dark cherry, ripe strawberry and anise fruits spread expansively across the breadth of the palate. Chiming in for additional complexity are notions of dried herb, forest floor and spicy cedar characters. Showing plenty of power it has silky tannins and a long finish.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
Alc. 13.5%
