Matured in 20% new French oak barrels for 16 months. Impenetrable inky black heart with a very deep black dark red hue. Intense inky blackberry and liquorice aromas fill the nostrils with hints of black cherry, smoky vanillin cedar, light earth and blackpepper ensuing. Cutting a path across the fleshy textured palate are rich blackberry, liquorice and black cherry fruits. Smoky vanillin cedar, subtle dried meats and blackpepper then follow on. Finishes with good freshness, polished yet structured tannins and a medium to long aftertaste that has some refinement to it.
