Established in 1996 by Paul and Jennifer Champion the Mermerus Pinot Noir is produced from a single vineyard in the Geelong sub region of Bellarine Peninsula. The fruit was hand picked from low yielding vines (1.8 tonnes per acre), open fermented, basket pressed and matured in French oak barriques for 14 months.

Semi translucent dark red colour with a bright crimson red hue. Very perfumed, floral violet like scents overlay ripe dark cherry, anise and strawberry fruits with subtle meaty characters, infusions of fresh herbs and spicy cedar also present. Supple, moreish and slightly fuller than the 2017, ripe dark cherry and strawberry flavours expand across the palate like a peacocks tail underscored by anise, forest floor, spicy cedar and fresh herb elements. Soft and savoury, silky tannins work in tandem with vibrant but perfectly balanced acidity. Superb power wave concluding with a very long and delicious aftertaste.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
