2018 Mayford Porepunkah Shiraz

Dense midnight black heart with a deep dark red black hue. Streaming out of the glass are black cherry and liquorice scents infused with peppered dried meats. Spicy vanillin cedar and scorched earth notes ensue. Rich liquorice, black cherry and blackberry fruits are backed by a firm tannin structure which gives the back half a robust feel. Scorched earth, spicy vanillin cedar and peppered meat characters lie beneath. Dry chewy finish with a lingering peppered earth aftertaste.

Another exciting journey into cool-climate shiraz territory, exuding both strength and intensity, but with a fine touch. Scent of blackberries, generous spice and earth. Starts with a bang flavour-wise, all ripe, a no-beg-your-pardon confidence, but then slides irresistibly into an embrace of violet, dark chocolate and warm, woodsy spice. Drink by 2032.
