Impenetrable inky black heart with a very deep dark red black hue. Wafting out of the glass are black cherry, liquorice and blackberry scents which integrate well with smoky vanillin cedar, fennel and blackpepper. Rich, plush blackberry, liquorice and black cherry fruits have a fresher tone than past vintages. Elements of smoky vanillin cedar, fennel and pepper flow through onto the back half. Polished yet structural tannins with a long yet relatively refined aftertaste.
Cellar 5-6 years.
Alc. 14.5%

Other Reviews….
A paucity of information accompanying the Massena wines but here fruit sourced from vineyards in Greenock, Stone Well and Vine Vale, some whole bunches, some extended skin contact and basket-pressed to used French barriques and puncheons for 18 months. Unfined and unfiltered. It's come together brilliantly. It has richness and a depth of flavour matched to a brightness and vivacity across its fuller-bodied palate. Supple, savoury tannins and just lovely fruit shining through. Drink by 2033.
