2018 Kennedy Heathcote Cambria Shiraz

Matured for 15 months in 25% new French oak. Midnight black heart with a deep dark red black tinged hue. Blackpepper infused aromas of black cherry, dark plum and liquorice rise out of the glass followed by some vanillin cedar, scorched earth and dried meat notes. Rich fleshy textured dark plum and liquorice fruits are rolled out across the medium to full bodied palate with scorched earth, vanillin cedar and peppered dried herb elements lying underneath. Sturdy tannin structure imparting a slightly chewy feel to the mid length finish.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.

The Kennedys are great grape growers first and foremost, with a prime site. Everything about the beauty of the ancient Cambrian soil and the region's connection to the grape comes together here. It's not showy, far from it. Rather it's a restrained and elegant immersion into a deeply coloured, dark world of serious quality fruit played against a backdrop of sensitive oak and lithe, fine tannins. Drink by 2028.
