A beautiful expression of Chianti Classico.

This iconic Tuscan Estate was established in the 1950’s when the father of current winemaker Paolo de Marchi purchased the adjoining estates of Isole and Olena.
A blend of 82% Sangiovese, 15% Canaiolo and 3% Syrah with maturation taking place in large oak barrels for approximately 12 months. Deep dark red colour with black tinged edges and a dark red hue. The nose offers up expressive red currant and ripe cherry aromas which mingle with a subtle whiff of rose petals, dried herbs, dusty cedar and light spicy tobacco notes. Mid weighted, the palate is a beautiful expression of Chianti Classico, rich red to dark currant and ripe cherry fruits underscored by dried herbs, subtle earth, tobacco and spicy cedar. Supple in it’s feel, it finishes with fresh acidity, polished tannins adding a touch of class. Finishes long, moreish and refined. Eminently drinkable now but will also cellar a further 5-6 years.
Alc. 14.5%

Other Reviews….
This is a really authentic and beautiful Chianti Classico, offering cherries, orange peel and light undertones of nuts and bark. It’s medium-bodied, very polished and integrated with a fresh, juicy finish. Drink now.

Besides a healthy dose of Canaiolo Nero, proprietor Paolo De Marchi blends in a dash of Syrah to give backbone, especially in lighter vintages - he believes it to be less invasive than other international varieties. Fragrantly expressive, enticing notes of aromatic herbs, rose, fennel, clove and fresh forest floor greet the nose. While wonderfully medium in weight, this packs a lot in, especially tangy blackcurrant. Chalky tannins are subtly assertive and will carry the wine through the midterm. Drinking window 2022-2030.
