Produced from vines planted in 1926 with ageing taking place predominately in French oak along with a minor American oak component. Totally opaque black dark red colour with a dark red black tinged hue. Leaping out of the glass are intense blackpepper infused aromas of dark plum and liquorice which are trailed by some smoky vanillin cedar, earth and spicy fennel notes. Rich, fleshy and refined the palate is decorated with seductive dark plum and liquorice fruits which meld into a spicy vanillin oak, fennel and peppered earth back drop. Silken yet sturdy tannin framework concluding with terrific power and intensity as well as finesse.
Drink over the next 6-8 years.
Alc. 14.5%

Other Reviews….
Selected hand-picked fruit off the Mafeking Vineyard, aged predominantly in French oak with a small amount of American oak. A beautifully crafted shiraz exhibiting concentrated spice, pepper and blackberried fruit power. The palate is built around a discreet tannin frame and a solid core of blackberry, plum, kitchen spices and vanilla pod, all in total harmony. Drink by 2032.
