2018 Ghislaine Barthod Bourgogne Rouge
Other Reviews....
A notably fresh nose is both cool and bright with its pretty aromas of spicy red berries. The racy and nicely voluminous flavors terminate in a raspy and lingering if slightly rustic finish. If this can add depth over the next few years my predicted ranged may be overly conservative. Drink through 2023+.

The 2018 Bourgogne Les Bons Bâtons wafts from the glass with a lovely bouquet of cherries, raspberries and orange rind. Medium to full-bodied, it's fleshy and succulent, with powdery tannins and an ample core of mouthwatering fruit. As usual, this derives from a parcel in Gilly-lès-Cîteaux, one of the finest locations classified at the regional level. Readers should note that Barthod produces only one Bourgogne, but in some markets it's labelled without the lieu-dit name Les Bons Bâtons.

Ghislaine Barthod offers just one Bourgogne Rouge, labelled however as Bons Bâtons in some markets. The 2018 displays a dense purple colour, with rich deep raspberry fruit, a fine burst of energy on the palate, and some acidity, leading to a nicely balanced, even elegant finish.
