2018 Fighting Gully Road Chardonnay

From vines nearly 40 years old the wine was matured in one third new French oak hogsheads with the balance in a combination of 1 to 4 year old barrels. Brilliant very pale straw almost water like colour with a greenish tinged outskirts. Pronounced fleshy white peach and nectarine fruits tangle with subtle citrusy dried honey notes, biscuity oak and gun flint. Elegant white peach and nectarine flavours have a fresh feel overlaying a light dried honey, biscuity oak, citrus and delicate gun flint infused back drop. Nicely balanced acidity counterpoints a delicately creamed mouthfeel. Hints of roasted almonds emerge on the medium to long aftertaste.
