2018 Farr Rising Gamay
Deep dark red core with black tinged edges and a bright red hue. Perfumed aromatics of violets, ripe cherries and strawberries infused with dried clove blossom from the glass followed by a subtle meatiness, lightly scorched earth and spicy herbs. Delicious juicy ripe red fruits are layered across the palate with cherries, raspberries and strawberries leading the way, elements of clove, subtle incense infusions, earth and spicy herbs sitting underneath. Nicely polished tannins with crunchy acidity on the finish and a long savoury aftertaste.
Drink over the next 3-4 years.
Alc. 13.5%
Other Reviews….
Hand-picked, sorted and placed in a hermetic fermenter under the aegis of CO2, non-destemmed, for the first stage of a natural ferment. This imparts bright sap and cherry pith aromas, with plenty of herbal tannins. It is pressed and foot-stomped off, macerated further and fermented dry. It has a delicious track-record and will drink brilliantly across a 5-8 year window, as time over 2 days in the bottle and retasting suggests... especially once the bunchy tannins embed themselves to the joyous fruit. Drink by 2026.
