Burgundy, FRANCE

$1920.00 Dozen
ABV: 13%

Domaine Duroche is one of the brightest stars to appear in the Burgundy landscape over recent years, and with numerous comparisons to Domaine Rousseau the wines are now incredibly hard to come by. While the name is relatively new to the world, the family have been making wine in Gevrey Chambertin since 1953, and early on they aquired fantastic plots of Gevrey villages, premier cru and Grand Cru including Chambertin Clos de Beze. The wines are incredibly pure, have excellent concentration and depth, and show a fantastic translation of site.

Other Reviews....
Aromas of ripe cherries, wild berries, spices and rich soil tones introduce the 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Village, a medium-bodied, succulent and open-knit wine that's elegant, enveloping and expressive. This nicely balanced effort will offer a broad drinking window.

The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Village has a slightly rustic, ferrous bouquet that needs to knit together during the remainder of its élevage. The palate conveys satisfying sapidity and steely tannins. The taut, brisk, stony finish disguises the warmth of the growing season. Superb winemaking on display here. This is Pierre Duroché’s largest cuvée at 57 barrels.

Pretty, mid purple. The nose is quite perky with some attractive violet notes and fresh raspberry, maybe a little darker on the palate but with an attractive vivacity. Pierre did well to take his foot off the pedal in 2018. Good density at the finish despite the gentle approach.
