2018 Domaine de la Vougeraie Musigny Grand Cru
Not surprisingly this is less aromatically expressive today with its elegant and super-fresh if restrained array of various ripe dark berries, violet, lavender, exotic tea and impressive range of spices. There is equally good volume, power and muscle to the full-bodied flavors that brim with minerality on the explosively long and impeccably well-balanced finish. This is a very serious and stunningly good Musigny of lace and grace that is indisputably built-to-age so plenty of patience strongly advised. In a word, magnificent.
Allen Meadows - Burghound
The beautiful 2018 Musigny Grand Cru soars from the glass with notes of violets, rose petals, raspberries and blood orange. On the palate, it's full-bodied, layered and racy, with fine tannins and terrific intensity, though it's less overtly muscular at this stage than the blockier Bonne Mares. This, too, is very promising.
William Kelley - Wine Advocate (Feb 2020)
The 2018 Musigny Grand Cru is 100% whole-bunch fruit and comprises three barrels this year. It has considerably more intensity on the nose compared to the Bonnes-Mares, featuring blackberry, raspberry and light briar scents, hints of tangerine and a splash of soy. The medium-bodied palate offers supple tannin, fine acidity and a fleshy texture, although it does not possess the complexity and breeding of previous Musignys I have tasted from the domaine. A lovely wine, albeit one that I would broach earlier than others.
Neal Martin - Vinous
100% whole bunch. Gorgeous glowing purple, explosive perfumed grapes, dark cherry, ripe raspberry, something of all the sensual red fruits. The rose bush is in evidence too. Still quite a sense of delicacy on the palate, a welcome touch of acidity, this is very fine but not quite the intensity of some Musigny examples.
