Domaine Charles Audoin was formed in 1972 by Charles and his oenologist wife Marie-Francoise, starting with three hectares in Marsannay. Their holding has now grown to around 14 hectares that captures some of the best parcels in Marsannay. Their son Cyril joined his father in 2000, and is now in charge of both vineyard and winemaking activities for the Domaine. Cyril is increasingly focused on vineyard health, to deliver wines with pure varietal expression and a sense of place. They are among the most serious wines from the area, and while juicy and approachable young, have the capacity to age gracefully for many years.

Les Favieres is situated on the border of the Marsannay and Couchey sectors, and the vineyard has a very shallow top soil above the bedrock. It tends to produce wines that are very precise, structured, and built to age.

Deep dark red colour with black tinged edges and a bright dark red hue. Pronounced red cherry and red currant aromas mix with some meaty notes, an earthy forest floor like character, stalky herbs and spicy cedar. Delicious ripe red cherry and red currant fruits have a distinct earthy overtone with some meatiness, infusions of fresh herbs and spicy cedar ensuing. Excellent fruit intensity is complimented by crunchy like acidity and structured, slightly grainy tannins. Finishes with a long savoury aftertaste that has a meaty feel to it.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
Alc. 13%

Other Reviews....
The 2018 Marsannay Les Favières opens in the glass with aromas of cherries, raspberries and orange rind that mingle with sweet soil tones and a deft touch of toasty new oak. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with rich structuring tannins, lively acids and a long, precise finish. As usual, this is among the most promising prospects for the long haul in the Audoin cellar.

William Kelley - Wine Advocate (Feb 2020)

There is better freshness still to the pretty and attractively layered aromas of red cherry, raspberry and evident floral elements. The punchy and appealingly textured flavors exude evident salinity on the impressively complex and lingering finish where the same cherry lozenge character is present.
