2018 De Bortoli Deen Master's Blend 184

De Bortoli have long had a reputation for producing bargain priced reds under their Deen label that massively over deliver. The Deen Master’s Blend 184 is a multi regional wine that sources Shiraz from Heathcote and Gundagi, Durif from Rutherglen and Riverina as well some cool climate Cabernet from the Hilltops region. A small portion of the wine was matured in stainless steel with remainder in new and older French and American hogshead barrels for 12 months.

Deep inky black core with a bright dark red black hue. Lifted aromas of liquorice blend with ripe black cherries and an overlay of smoky vanillin oak followed by some blackpepper notes. Rich juicy liquorice, blackberry and luscious black cherry fruits show exemplary concentration over a toasty vanillin oak and spice back drop. Plush mouthfeel with sturdy yet velvet like tannins. Drenched in black fruits it concludes with a medium to long aftertaste.
