Impenetrable inky black in colour with a very deep dark red black hue. Lifted aromas of dark plum and liquorice intermingle with fresh blackberry, fennel, dusty vanillin cedar, black olive and blackpepper notes. Rich yet tightly wound and structured, the medium to full bodied palate features blackberry, liquorice and dark plum fruits which are backed by stern tannins that have a graphite like feel. Vanillin cedar, light scorched earth and peppery black olive nuances sit in the back half. Refined and sturdy with a long finish.
Cellar 6-8 years.
Alc. 14.5%

Other Reviews….
An old site established in 1920 services the name. This is a smooth ride. Dense. Mocha, black olive, mulberry, blueberry and spice, with a spool of pepper-doused acidity towing the rear long and effortless. The cedary oak glosses the fabric, rather than ripping it apart. Exceptional warm climate shiraz. Drink by 2033.

Sexy Peter Lloyd says this wine was “Elevated to Le Lloyd level from 2018”, so it’s line priced with that, using some marketing parlance. Willunga Shiraz, is quite different to that which is grown around the estate.
Deep, dark and perfumed. Dark chocolate, damp earth, lavender and spice, ripe blackberry and raspberry, black olive rolled in dried herbs. It’s full-bodied, rippling with earthy and ferrous tannin, saline and fragrant, has grip and depth of flavour, and rolls out very long, with a distinct toasted hazelnut flavour as it goes. Powerful and distinctive. Of course, it needs time. Drink 2023-2036+
