2018 Coates The Syrah

Matured for 18 months in 20% new French oak. Midnight black in colour with a dark red black tinged hue. Pronounced black cherry, liquorice and dark plum aromas stream from the glass followed by fennel, vanillin cedar, light earth and peppered meat notes. Soft and fleshy the mid weighted palate is flush with dark plum, blueberry and red liquorice flavours which are underpinned by fennel, fresh herbs and pepper. Polished tannins with bright acidity and a medium length aftertaste.
Drink over the next 3-4 years.
