2018 Charles Melton Nine Popes

Matured in a combination of 70% French oak and 30% American oak barriques of which 25% were new for a period of 30 months. Deep dark red black colour with a dark red hue. Wafting from the glass are opulent scents of dark to black raspberry, black cherry and liquorice trailed by vanillin cedar, subtle earth, hints of herbs du Provence, leather and pepper. Rich, voluptuously textured dark to black raspberry, liquorice and dark cherry fruits are layered across the full bodied palate with a silken feel. Spicy vanillin cedar, earth and pepper elements ensue. Concludes long and plush with velvet smooth tannins.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
