2018 Castelli Chardonnay

Brilliant pale straw colour with a distinctive ring of green around the edges and a watery hue. Pronounced nectarine and white peach scents meld into hints of dried honey, citrus, biscuity oak, light nougat and shades of gun flint. Rich fleshy nectarine, white peach and grapefruit flavours fill the mouth with elements of honeyed nougat, biscuity oak, subtle cashew and spice lying underneath. Ample freshness, excellent depth and a long cream tinged finish.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.

Matchstick characters certainly make their presence felt, but the intensity of flavour and all-round complexity are most definitely upper echelon. This chardonnay has power, class and persistence in spades. It's smoky and reductive, but it's charged with quality ripe fruit and it's strung on pure acid lines. Beautiful. Drink by 2028.
