2018 Cascina Galarin Barbera d'Asti Superiore Tinella

A blend of 95% Barbera and 5% Freisa matured for 20 months in small moderately toasted French oak barrels. Deep dark red black colour with a dark red hue. Nosing offers up blackberry and liquorice aromatics which intermingle with dark plum, dusty vanillin cedar, earth and spice. Medium to full bodied, rich blackberry, liquorice and dark chocolate flavours are backed by bright acidity and a slightly chalky tannin structure. Earth and spicy vanillin cedar elements ensue. Finishes dry with good tension and a tightly wound yet generously fruited aftertaste.
