2018 Buller Wines Calliope Durif

Matured in American oak hogsheads for 18 months. Impenetrable inky black colour with an equally deep dark purple black hue. Potent ripe black cherry, black plum and liquorice aromas have an earthy leather overlay. There are also some emerging varnish like notes. Powerful luscious black and morello cherry fruits run into a prominent dose of vanillin oak. Finishes with a dash of spice. Ripe chewy tannins provide firmness. Long plush aftertaste with lingering vanillin oak.
