Produced from a vineyard planted in 1974 believed to be amongst the oldest Riesling vines in Tasmania, this wine is only produced in top vintages. Brilliant water like core with distinct highlights of green coursing around the edges. Intense aromas of lime juice meld into orange blossom, faint honeyed notes and some smoky minerality. Nicely rounded in the mouth, the palate is bursting with ripe lime, red apple and citrus fruits. Infusions of orange blossom, light honeysuckle and subtle smoky mineral characters flow onto the back half. Dry to off dry finish with crisp acidity enhancing the long scrumptious aftertaste.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.

Other Reviews….
Comes from Bream Creek's 44yo riesling vines, believed to be the oldest in Tasmania. It is already flaunting its wares with titratable acidity of 8.2g/l and residual sugar of 7.3g/l. It simply ratchets up the power of all in the inputs, and will give pleasure when very young or very old - and any point along the way. Drink by 2038.

Bream Creek has been around since the 1970s and the Reserve Old Vine Riesling is made from the first plantings in 1974.
Older vines should bring intensity and focus and that is exactly what is happening here. The green apple is a focused Bramley apple, lemon zest, sherbet, grapefruit curd, lemon blossom and fresh limes all are precise and intense. There is a hint of maturity in the kerosene and a silky richness to the vanilla notes but ultimately this is still so youthful with many years to come.  Quintessentially Tasmanian, this is a wine with a glorious sense of place and sense of self, delightful. Drink 2021-2031.
