Inspired by the great Shiraz wines of the Northern Rhone in France, this wine contains Shiraz from the best elevated vineyards in Great Western and is co-fermented with a small amount of Viognier (4%). The viognier helps brighten the colour, lift the aromatics and polish the Shiraz flavours on the palate.

Taking its inspiration from Northern Rhone, this is a beautifully detailed Great Western Shiraz that is all class and finesse.

Pitch black in colour with a very deep bright dark red black tinged hue. A refined, perfumed like bouquet of violets, red to dark plum and liquorice flows out of the glass with trailing notes of blueberry, clove, dried meats, scorched earth and peppered herbs ensuing. Medium to full bodied, the palate is draped with layers of rich spicy dark plum and liquorice fruits which are very supple and polished in their feel. Weaving their way onto the elegant finish are elements of clove, a subtle meatiness, smoky cedar and pepper. Very finely grained, ever so slightly dusty tannins with good freshness and a long aftertaste that’s all finesse and class.
Drink over the next 6-8 years.
Alc. 14.5%

Other Reviews….
Opti-harvested, whole berry fermentation with 15% whole bunches and 2% viognier. A rich, layered hedonistic wine, fruits of forest/forest floor, with both blackberry and raspberry on display. The balance of tannins, oak and fruit is evidenced by the wine (and its show success). Drink by 2042.
