Best’s impressive range of Great Western Shiraz has long taken centre stage with their Cabernets sitting in the shadows. Showcasing the regions elegance and cool climate structure the Cabernet possesses dense rich fruit and is capable of cellaring for up to 20 years. At under $25 it consistently delivers terrific value.

A superb Great Western Cabernet that has both richness and intensity wrapped up in a supremely elegant frame.

Displays impressive depth of colour with a midnight black core and a deep dark red black tinged hue. A fragrant mix of red to black currant and mulberry scents delight the olfactory senses. Hints of violets, dusty vanillin cedar and lightly spiced bay leaf all add further interest. The medium bodied palate is a delightful fusion of fruit intensity, power and freshness. Bright red to black currant along with mulberry fruits feature over dusty vanillin cedar, subtle tones of earthy tobacco characters and infusions of spicy bay leaf. Slightly dryish but otherwise polished tannins work in tandem with beautifully poised acidity to provide a great structure for longer term cellaring. Excellent depth with a very long aftertaste of great persistence and elegance.
Drink over the next 8-10 years.
Alc. 14.5%

Other Reviews....
Includes 10% merlot, cabernet franc and shiraz, matured for 12 months in old vats or French hogsheads. A cascade of silver medals. This is a potent and precisely vinified wine of great length, blackcurrant with a twist of black olive driving the flavours. Drink to 2038.
