Introduced due to the relative scarcity of Best’s Thomson Family and Bin 0 Shiraz wines, the Bin 1 Shiraz aims to provide an introduction to Great Western Shiraz style at a price point that gives the wine broader market access. Made predominantly from Best’s own vineyards it combines the varietals generosity with the region's cool climate elegance.
Inky black in colour with a deep dark red black hue. Pronounced plum, liquorice and blackpepper scents have a gentle clove overlay with notions of vanillin cedar, earth and spicy fennel also evident. Medium to full bodied, rich dark plum, liquorice and ripe blueberry fruits have a refined meaty like feel over a backdrop of clove, spicy vanillin cedar, earth and blackpepper. Slightly dryish fine grained tannins provide good structure. Long spicy blackpepper infused blue to dark fruited aftertaste.
Drink over the next 6-8 years.
Alc. 14%

Other Reviews…..
Picked by hand and by Opti sorter/harvester, whole berry fermentation with 5% whole bunches. Wine show success is no surprise. Typical Great Western wine with high quality intensity, focus and length to its spicy/peppery black forest floor fruits, at only 14% alcohol. Drink by 2038.
