2018 Balnaves of Coonawarra Shiraz

Matured for 15 months in a combination of new (45%) and seasoned French oak with 20% whole bunch fruit included in the ferment. Dense inky black in colour with a deep dark red black hue. Lofty scents of blackberry, dark plum and liquorice drift from the glass followed by trailing notes of toasty vanillin cedar, dark chocolate and subtle pepper. Rich dark plum, liquorice and ripe blueberry fruits flood the mouth underscored by vanillin cedar, subtle choc mint and spicy earth elements. An opulent feel is backed by ripe, sturdily built tannins which firm up the finish a touch. Concludes with ample power on the long fruit loaded aftertaste.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
